Looking to the New Year..
Well, its already 2 whole days after Christmas and all the presents have been opened and our recycling bin is full to the top with wrapping paper and empty boxes, the Christmas dinner, which took many hours to plan and prepare, was eaten in a matter of minutes! The 2 younger girls are all playing with their new Barbies, games and toys and the oldest is figuring out her new Ipod and I am just sat here watching and listening to their happy voices, sipping on homemade Irish Cream Latte and every now and then casting my eye to the front window...keeping my eye on the snow. Its so beautiful outside....
It has also just crossed my mind that the year is rapidly coming to an end and looking back what a year it has been - filled with highs andlows, dreams shattered and dreams fulfilled. In life I always choose to focus on the positive so I wont talk much about my shattered dreams but I will say I am so-o happy to have been accepted into Dental Nursing school and also be offered a job as an Orthodontic (Trainee) Nurse, having worked for 10 years + in the general Dentristy field as an assistant and receptionist it was about time I stepped up and took a qualification, my youngest lil one started full time school and there was no better time for me to also embark on getting some school done myself..!
I will spend the next few days thinking about what I want to achieve in 2011 and how I am going to achieve it...Will also be coming up with a wish list of things I would life to buy (or be gifted!) and I already know top of my list is a camera...will do some research on this and soon start my list!!

Where do I start..?
Okay, so I started up this blog a good while ago and was not really sure what kind of activity I was going to have on here, so-o today I have decided to just blog, blog about e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g and a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g that goes on in my life, which at the moment is full of emotions and chaos.
Okay, so its the day after Christmas and the girls and I decided we were going to make Upside Down Pineapple cake, girls ate it nice and warm with lots of homemade custard and ...they so loved it!

Between 3 girls this is all that was left.....!

Next on our list of kitchen creations is Lemon Drizzle cake..it was so nice being snuggled up in the warm kitchen with the warm smell of baking cake while outside looked like this...

I have a love hate relationship with winter, I love the snow for as long as I am on the inside looking out, ...dont ask me to go out in the snow...nah, thats just too much to ask of me!!

A Military Wife
A Military Wife: A Poem
Lots of moving...
Moving...
Moving...
Moving far from home...
Moving two cars, three kids and one dog...all riding with HER of course.
Moving sofas to basements because they won't go in THIS house;
Moving curtains that won't fit;
Moving jobs and certifications and professional development hours.
Moving away from friends;
Moving toward new friends;
Moving her most important luggage: her trunk full of memories.
Often waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting...
Waiting for housing.
Waiting for orders.
Waiting for deployments.
Waiting for phone calls.
Waiting for reunions.
Waiting for the new curtains to arrive.
Waiting for him to come home, For dinner...AGAIN!
They call her 'Military Dependent', but she knows better:
She is fiercely In-Dependent.
She can balance a check book;
Handle the yard work;
Fix a noisy toilet;
Bury the family pet...
She is intimately familiar with drywall anchors and toggle bolts.
She can file the taxes;
Sell a house;
Buy a car;
Or set up a move... .....all with ONE Power of Attorney.
She welcomes neighbors that don't welcome her.
She reinvents her career with every PCS;
Locates a house in the desert, The Arctic, Or the deep south.
And learns to call them all 'home'.
She MAKES them all home.
Military Wives are somewhat hasty...
They leap into:
Decorating,
Leadership,
Volunteering,
Career alternatives,
Churches,
And friendships. They don't have 15 years to get to know people.
Their roots are short but flexible.
They plant annuals for themselves and perennials for those who come after them.
Military Wives quickly learn to value each other:
They connect over coffee,
Rely on the spouse network,
Accept offers of friendship and favors.
Record addresses in pencil...
Military Wives have a common bond:
The Military Wife has a husband unlike other husbands; his commitment is unique.
He doesn't have a 'JOB'
He has a 'MISSION' that he can't just decide to quit...
He's on-call for his country 24/7.
But for her, he's the most unreliable guy in town!
His language is foreign

And so, a Military Wife is a translator for her family and his.
She is the long- distance link to keep them informed;
the glue that holds them together.
A Military Wife has her moments:
She wants to wring his neck;
Dye his uniform pink;
Refuse to move to Siberia;
But she pulls herself together.
Give her a few days,
A travel brochure,
A long hot bath,
A pledge to the flag,
A wedding picture,
And she goes.
She packs.
She moves.
She follows.
Why?
What for?
How come?
You may think it is because she has lost her mind.
But actually it is because she has lost her heart.
It was stolen from her by a man,
Who puts duty first,
Who longs to deploy,
Who salutes the flag,
And whose boots in the doorway remind her that as long as he is her Military Husband,
She will remain his military wife.
And would have it no other way.
